Where do I pick up the mini digger?

All equipment is picked up from Sunbury. Delivery outside this area is available—contact us for a quote.

Question 2

Do I need experience or a licence?

Accepted Answer

No special licence is required. Experience is recommended but not mandatory. Hirers must operate the machine safely.

Question 3

What ID do I need?

Accepted Answer

A current Australian driver’s licence is required. Hirers must meet minimum age requirements (18+).

Question 4

Do I need to sign anything before hire?

Accepted Answer

The hire agreement must be signed and returned prior to your booking.

Question 5

What fuel and condition should the machine be returned in?

Accepted Answer

All machines must be returned with a full tank of diesel and in a clean condition, unless otherwise arranged.

Question 6

What if I return the machine late?

Accepted Answer

Late fees apply:
 • Up to 1 hour late: $50
 • 1–3 hours late: $100
 • Over 3 hours late or next-day return: Full daily hire rate ($250)

Question 7

Can I cancel my booking?

Accepted Answer

• More than 48 hours’ notice: No fee
 • 24–48 hours’ notice: 50% of daily hire ($125)
 • Less than 24 hours / no-show: Full daily hire ($250)
Weather-related cancellations are assessed case-by-case; we aim to reschedule where possible.

Question 8

Am I responsible for damage or insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You are responsible for any damage, loss, or theft during the hire. Sunbury Diggers does not provide insurance unless agreed in writing.

Do I need to contact BYDA before digging?

Accepted Answer
